Places where you stand a good chance to see a particular species of bird and, if you're a photographer, where you stand the best chance of getting a good picture of a specific species.

At 6×9 inches in size, it’s a bit large for a pocket but easily fits in a backpack for field use. Their behaviour is more akin to owls, particularly like Short-eared Owls who too find population explosions of voles and other smaller rodents and time this exactly to their breeding season. They are not bad, just different, and that difference can be jarring. Each private field boasts over 100 huntable acres, giving you plenty of room to run your dog and plenty of places for those wily pheasants to hide.

It describes how to access the location, and what amenities to expect; maps are featured. Thirty-four species are covered including two species of New World vultures, six falcons, and 24 hawks, eagles and kites. Peterson’s style and plate layout are by now probably familiar to most birders, so I will just touch on a couple of points. A winter’s birding tour in Morocco with the Andalucia Bird Society, the society’s first overseas tour! The text that accompanies the photography is wonderful as well and includes several pages of introductory text that covers topics such as plumage, migration, and habitat types.
